Jehoiakim
Around 630 BC, Jehoiakim, the king of ancient Judah, made the tragic decision to ignore God's warning. Instead of listening to the word of the Lord given to Jeremiah, recorded by Baruch, and read by Jehudi, Jehoiakim cut the scroll with a knife and then threw it into the fire. If the nation had listened and "turned from his evil way,” God promised to "forgive their iniquity and their sin."
